Part Time Weekend Recovery Coach / Peer Support Specialist (12 Hour Shifts)

Organization: Reach Sober Living, Inc
Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Schedule: Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) — 24 hours total per weekend (two 12 hour shifts). Some holidays required. Part time.

Position Summary:

Reach Sober Living seeks compassionate, reliable Recovery Coaches / Peer Support Specialists to provide frontline support for men in recovery during weekend hours. This role focuses on peer engagement, crisis support, community linkage, and promoting a safe, recovery oriented living environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer support, mentorship, and advocacy consistent with recovery oriented best practices.
  • Conduct checkins, monitor resident safety, and respond to crises as needed.
  • Facilitate group activities, recovery meetings, and communitybuilding events.
  • Assist with intakes, warm handoffs, and transportation coordination when required.
  • Document interactions, incidents, and progress in client records per agency policy.
  • Enforce house rules with respect and consistency; model sober living expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with weekday staff and leadership regarding resident needs and incidents.
  • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and supervision.


Qualifications:

  • Lived experience in recovery strongly preferred; certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist or equivalent is a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in recovery services, sober living, case management, or related human services preferred.
  • Strong communication, deescalation, and boundary setting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to coordinate resident transport as needed.
  • Ability to pass background check and meet agency onboarding requirements.
  • Flexible, patient, and culturally responsive approach to working with diverse populations.


Shift Details:

  • Two 12 hour shifts covering Saturday and Sunday (e.g., 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM; exact shift times may vary).
  • Expectation to work major holidays that fall on weekend dates; additional holiday pay policy will be discussed.
  • Part time position; schedule may allow occasional weekday coverage by agreement.
